Week 2 of Xbox One and Kinect 2.0 work outs

So it has been a couple weeks that I have been using my Xbox One and the Xbox Fitness app that comes with it.  There is some good and bad with the program that I will go into.

First the results after another week.  I am now at 245 lbs.  So far 5 lbs. lost using the program.  My eating habits haven't changed a whole lot otherwise I would probably see even better results.  That is the good part of the program.

The bad part is that each of these programs are just the intro levels and the only way to continue in the programs is to purchase the rest.  With that ion mind the work outs may get old after a years use.  However, since it is free to use and there are quite a few I would not deter anyone from using it.

Xbox One and the Future of Weight loss is here

So for those that have read the blog in the past my intention was to use the Xbox 360 and Kinect on a daily basis and record my weight loss , muscle increase, etc.  The problem is the first generation Kinect was not powerful or accurate enough to give me the readings I wanted.

However, with the release of Xbox One and the Kinect 2.0 that comes with it things are about to change.  There is an app on the Xbox One called Xbox fitness.  The app contains some of the most popular workout programs out there and they are FREE for Xbox Live subscribers.  I did my very first one just now called Ripped in 30 minutes with Jillian Michaels. How was it?

It kicked my ass that's how it was. :)  Right now my weight is hovering around 250lbs.  The heaviest I have ever been and at 6' not the healthiest by a long shot.  I knew I would be winded but this was no joke.  I certainly look forward to seeing how I progress as I continue the work outs.  Aside from the program the new Kinect actually works!  It was able to track my heart rate, my muscle flexing, where my weight was distributed and more.  It felt as though Jillian was in the room and telling me what to fix since the Kinect knew where I was slacking.

In short if you are a fitness buff or someone looking to lose weight I am ma huge believer of the new Xbox One, Kinect 2.0 and the Xbox Fitness app.  From this point forward look here weekly for my input on the program, how it went and the status of my health as I go through this process.

As of 11/25/2013

Weight: 250 lbs.
Pant size: 38"

Xbox Fitness Announced

For those of you that may not know it looks like the perfect app for me to get this project underway will be available when the Xbox One launches.  It is called Xbox Fitness and it uses top tier real life trainers and workouts to get results.

Using the options available using the new Kinect 2.0 it will have greater fidelity in fine tuning our bodies.  Will I be using my Xbox One to play games?  Absolutely!  Will I also be using it to try and lose some weight? Without a doubt!

Xbox Fitness looks like the real deal and if you are an active Xbox Live Gold subscriber all the workouts will be available for you for free until December 2014.  Great stuff!

Still here

Hello everyone,

Still here but since returning from E3 and seeing what is on the horizon I am waiting to start this weight loss through gaming blog until the next generation launches in November.  With the advancement of the new Kinect 2.0 I will be able to better record workouts and weight loss.

Look for more in-depth and regular updates once the Xbox One launches.

Hello everyone.  I have been slacking on my updates lately due to changes at work but I am now back on track.

My workouts using Kinect, however, have continued and I am excited to let everyone know using Kinect a few times a day and eating smarter I am now down to 235!

Now that work and travel has settled I will be sure to update everyone on the games and workouts I use and my typical diet. Best of luck and hope to hear good things from all of you!

About me and this blog

Everyone that knows me, knows that I love my video games. From mmos on the pc to fps's on the Xbox. I love them all.

I also love food. Unfortunately that combination lends itself to some unwanted results. At 5'11" and 250 lbs. I am at the heaviest I ever have been.

This blog is my public diary dedicated to push me in achieving my weight loss goals using the power of Kinect as it is meant to be used. I hope to update this weekly with what I did, what I ate and current weights as I strive to achieve my goal of 185.

I am attending my very first E3 this year and want to enjoy it all without being winded. Good luck to anyone else attempting similar results and I hope you achieve them. Now let's get started!
